PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

Mosaic Brazil: A Panorama of Social Justice

featuring The Ohio State University

Over years of facilitating international learning journeys for thousands of students, we have discovered that by engaging students to work on real-world projects with local students, we offer them the opportunity to put their classroom learning into practice and develop practical skills, while being exposed to a new culture, expanding their networks and gaining practical experience in multicultural communication.

The “Mosaic Brazil: A Panorama of Social Justice” program, held in partnership with The Ohio State University, explores the intersections of identity, ethnicity, gender, and social justice through an in-depth analysis of Brazil’s political, legal, socioeconomic, and anthropological landscapes.

Throughout the program, students collaborated directly with Brazilian students, developing essential skills to work in an interconnected and global environment while working on real-world projects for four local social impact organizations: Coletivo Criação, Meu Copo Eco, Casa Cruzeiro and Ong Criola.

We invite you to explore this amazing international learning journey!

Our work:

Project Mentoring Sessions

To provide students with the support they need to learn project delivery methodologies, address questions, and develop effective presentations for host companies, our programs include comprehensive academic guidance and dedicated mentoring sessions.

Interaction:

Telhado Verde Agroecológico

FACILITATED BY COLETIVO CRIAÇÃO

Coletivo Criação, one of the program’s host projects, converted students to an agroecological green roof, a space that exemplifies healthy and sustainable eating practices in Rio de Janeiro. This visit provided an investigation into the agroecological solutions adopted by local communities, allowing students to understand, in practice, the challenges and solutions related to food security and sustainability.

Coletivo Criação works in the Grande Pavuna region, with a mission to empower youth from favelas by creating opportunities for growth through art, culture, and education while promoting racial and climate justice.

Final Presentations

At the conclusion of a long and intensive week of work and learning, we had the privilege of hearing students share their insights and present innovative alternatives and solutions for the host organizations.

Their actionable recommendations highlighted a deep understanding of the topics explored and reflected a more thoughtful and engaged perspective. This demonstrated the program’s success in broadening their understanding of social justice in Brazil and its relevance in today’s world.

Our passion in the academic field has given us the privilege of actively collaborating with more than 80 universities, offering professional and extracurricular experience journeys directly impacting more than 4000 students.
