It is important for professionals to be able to function and communicate effectively as a member of a team of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  1. What are some of the challenges involved in establishing and maintaining effective communication on this type of cross-cultural team?

Sometimes may be a challenge to work with people from other country, in this case there is a Brazilian, a Colombian, some Americans, so obviously we have 3 different languages, but that’s the benefit of speaking English, because we can communicate really well with everybody and it’s easy to share thoughts and for me it has been awesome, because we all have different views of points, since every culture, and that makes that working together becomes satisfactory.

  1. What new perspectives are you learning about global business?

I think I have learned so much in this two weeks, being with my group and in general with everybody, had given me some tools to talk to people from another country, we all think different, we all live different, and that’s make to understand more how to treat with different cultures if you are making global business. In Latin America we also have differences, if you are from Colombia for example like me, we don’t think like a Peruvian, or an Argentinian, no matter if we talk the same language, we have differences in the way we talk, some word doesn’t mean the same, so I think it has been so helpful for me.

I think that thanks to this experience I have been improving my listening and talking skills, because sometimes here in Colombia we work a little bit different when we make this kind of project and working with the group, listening their ideas and sharing mine, makes me really happy and I’m trying to learn as much as possible of my team group and from everybody that makes part of the project.
