Last month, our office team and local coordinators gathered in São Paulo for the very first Campus B Summit. Over three days together, we reflected on the core aspects of our work and explored how we can continue to improve — strengthening our impact on students, universities, companies, and the communities we engage with.
The Summit combined workshops, collaborative activities, and just as importantly, moments of connection, celebration, and shared experiences. It was also a special opportunity to celebrate Campus B’s 15-year journey, surrounded by the people who help bring our mission to life every day. In this text, we share some of the main lessons learned from these three unique days!
Over the course of several immersive days in Buenos Aires, UTK students engaged in an immersive learning experience that blended culture, identity, history, and discovery – designed to deepen cultural understanding and expand their global perspectives.
Over several days, students from the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences had the unique opportunity to explore what makes life in Costa Rica one of the longest-living in the world — an experience rooted in cultural immersion, academic exchange, and firsthand discovery.
Their journey included visits to rural and urban regions of the country, offering meaningful insights into what contributes to long, fulfilling lives. A special focus was given to the Nicoya Peninsula, one of the world’s renowned Blue Zones — areas where people live significantly longer than average.
The latest edition of the Doing Business in Emerging Markets program, developed in collaboration with Georgia State University, brought together 19 international students for a weeklong deep dive into Brazil’s dynamic business landscape. Led by Professor Salomão de Farias, this learning experience was held in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, blending academics with cultural exploration.

The “Global Supply Chains and the Panama Canal” program took students through several cities, diving deep into the intersection of global logistics, local culture, and economic development.
Throughout the program, students gained understanding of the Panama Canal’s strategic importance — not only for the country but for global trade. Through technical visits and discussions with industry professionals, they explored key topics such as warehousing, intermodal transportation, and third-party logistics — all essential components of efficient global supply chains.
The Mosaic Brazil: A Panorama of Social Justice program, held in partnership with The Ohio State University, explores the intersections of identity, ethnicity, gender, and social justice through an in-depth analysis of Brazil’s political, legal, socioeconomic, and anthropological landscapes.
Throughout the program, students collaborated directly with Brazilian students, developing essential skills to work in an interconnected and global environment while working on real-world projects for four local social impact organizations.
During this month-long “Dialogues of Civilization” program held in São Paulo, Foz do Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, and Angra dos Reis, students explored Brazil’s robust renewable energy sector and its various alternative energy technologies in a country that generates over 80% of its electricity from renewable sources…
This program, held in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, offered NC State Jenkins graduate students an in-depth look at sustainability issues through site visits, discussions with local business and community leaders, and hands-on projects.
The “Brazil: A Social Mosaic” program is an interdisciplinary course taught by Professor Marcio Bahia focusing on the social, ethnic, and cultural dynamic that makes up the “Giant of South America.” A comprehensive cultural initiative that introduces students to Brazil’s multicultural landscape, where they learn about immigration, racial issues, social work, and the most pressing causes in Brazil.

This program gave students the chance to study and compare the complex histories of political violence and human rights in Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, engaging in activities in culturally significant destinations, museums, and communities that showcase the complex history of three countries that suffered through multiple periods of political violence and state terror.
Through these interactions, they were also able to learn how different groups continue to advocate for human rights and social justice in post conflict societies. In this photojourney, we highlight three interactions that were part of this incredible journey of international education!
The program took place in São Paulo, and the students had the opportunity to visit and get to know public and private organizations focused on the topic, as well as the chance to speak with the leading figures of the cause. They also had meaningful conversation sessions with institutions directly connected to the LGBTQIA+ community.
Between June and July 2023, we hosted an online course focused on global leadership for students from a system of Brazilian universities called YDUQS, including universities such as Universidade Estácio de Sá and Centro Universitário de Ribeirão Preto.
The program, which was conducted entirely in Spanish, also brought in students from a series of universities around Latin America, such as the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia and Universidad Siglo 21 (Argentina).
Throughout May 2023, we designed an experience spanning three different countries in Latin America for a group of undergraduate students either majoring or minoring in Intelligence and National Security Studies at Coastal Carolina University. Over the course of three weeks, students took part in academic activities and cultural tours in Bogotá, Medellín, and Panama City.
Over the course of spring semester 2023, we had the privilege to work with an incredibly talented group of students from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on a hybrid program focused on shedding light on social entrepreneurship in Brazil.
In March 2023, we welcomed a group of undergraduate students from the University of Illinois Chicago on a learning journey in Brazil that aimed to demonstrate how geographic and cultural factors affect educational settings and learning, with a particular focus on childhood education.
From January to February of 2023, we welcomed students from the University of Auckland and the University of Waikato to Brazil in order to give them the opportunity to learn more about the diverse cultures, challenges, and triumphs of the Indigenous peoples of Brazil.
In January 2023, we had the privilege of welcoming a group of MBA students from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University interested in learning more about how the private sector expands and adapts across international boundaries.
Smart Leaders – Smart Cities program, developed in partnership with the University of Illinois – Gies, WU University, Illinois in Vienna Programs (IiVP) and Campus b took place in Vienna from 16 to 26 May 2022.

At the end of our last open enrollment program in 2021 we created, developed and launched a specific digital International Experience Badge issued to students that completed the Positive Impact Internship.
At Campus b, we believe that learning is done collaboratively, experientially and with hands-on student-centered activities.

The program offered scholarships for underrepresented students from Brazil and abroad, to work with purpose-driven Brazilian organizations. For this program, we applied the iPBL methodology that was developed throughout over a year of hardwork and research.
Each session had an intentionality connected to our five learning outcomes: intercultural communication, adaptability, global awareness, critical thinking and personal development.
In 2020, just like everyone else, Campus b had to adapt to the ‘new normal’ that enveloped our world, and we used this as an opportunity to reinvent ourselves.

The students were divided into 4 different groups and during 4 weeks they had the chance to experience a full cultural immersion and learn a lot about healthcare management in Latin America through mentoring sessions, meetings with the host company, company talks and lectures.
